Honda Engine Restoration
2025-10
Project Overview
This project focused on the resurrection of a Honda GLR125 internal combustion engine acquired in a non-operative state. The primary engineering challenge lay in the wiring harness, which lacked schematic documentation; I performed a complete reverse-engineering of the electrical system using continuity testing to identify and map the ignition, charging, and ECU pinouts.
Mechanically, the project required sourcing and integrating essential missing components, including the high-voltage ignition coil, voltage regulator, and fuel pump assembly. The project concluded with the successful startup and tuning of the engine, which is now the designated power unit for an upcoming custom-fabricated drift kart chassis.
